Windows 6 [Vista/2008] will eat memory. It’s designed to. All that memory sitting there is being wasted – so thanks to Superfetch, it remembers what programs [EXE’s] you use on a daily basis, and caches them intelligently – putting that RAM to good use 🙂
Don’t fret though – if you start a game, Windows 6 will purge all the Superfetch data out of RAM IF it needs to 🙂 Believe me, its a good thing!
I swore by IE7 and the IE7Pro addon for a long time. Finally, I am now using Firefox3. It is better than ever, and finally can do all those things that only IE7 could do that I wanted [integration with my ReGet download manager, for example].
IE7Pro is very good, but it still eats more resources than Firefox3. And believe me I notice – 1GB of RAM and a P4 Prescott at 3GHz [ancient] haha!
Extension factor for Firefox is what makes it king I think 🙂
Also, check out MAXTHON if you like IE7! 🙂
Gamers should stick with XP 😉
For an engineer/programmer like myself however, the newest family of Windows 6 from Microsoft is nothing short of AMAZING. 😀
I agree, this is a great little community and an invaluable resource 🙂
I found it first while spending days to try and find the DirectX fix for GTA2 😀
That’s… really wierd. Is Aero enabled? Are you in 32-bit colour depth?
Apart from that, maybe some sidebar files are missing. Have you installed SP1 for Server 2008? And did you use the Sidebar files from Vista SP1 install?
Don’t forget that you need sidebar.exe as well as sidebar.exe.mui…

so vista and server are the same now with the drivers updates ?
Technically, every single driver that works on Vista will work on 2008 as they are both Windows NT 6 with some tiny changes, but the HAL [Hardware Abstraction Layer] is identical.
The only exception to this is when some drivers, eg cheap WIRELESS cards, have their own custom EXE’s or executable DLL’s for “custom properties pages” or config screens, whatever, which are badly coded!
But things like the Intel Chipset Drivers, nVidia Forceware, Logitech SetPoint, all work in server 2008 the same as Vista for me 🙂
And yeah, 2008 is in fact a lot faster than Vista for me, and only slightly slower than XP depending on the game [probably because I only have 1GB of RAM and Windows6 naturally eats more RAM than Windows5] 🙂
Sure did. Ill take a look at the DLL within the next few hours.

Thank you very much! 😀
Now how about a screenshot of your desktop Nevexst? 😛
WTF….
BACK ON TOPIC, I am going to look into this over the next few days. Stay tuned.

I even got a portable portal LOLz. I loooooove that game! I haven’t tried it on s2008 yet since I deleted it becuase I played it to death. Can’t wait for portal 2!
I keep hearing amazing things about Portal. Maybe i’ll have to have a look at it 🙂
You need to take ownership then apply your own permissions to the file… there are heaps of ways of doing this, sorry I wont list any here because its scary business 😯
I dont think it would *slow down* the PC, but whenever you modify a SYSTEM DLL there is always a cause for convern on system stability and/or security. Hence why I said I would try and look at the official authui.dll file, reverse engineer it a lil bit, and see if i can do anything with it then make a patch tool rather than canibalizing the Windows NT 6 family of OS’s haha! 😀

domDo you have Roaming Profiles, or your User Profile is mapped to a Network Drive, or you are on a domain? Check here for a solution if so…

…also, you might have a bluetooth stack conflict. The link above also talks about this.
Apart from that, Google is your friend! Other people have had this problem and it could be many reasons so you will be best off doing your own research 🙂
http://www.google.com/search?q=Nokia+PC+Suite+"cannot+authenticate+the+phone"
Also, dont ignore ones that dont have your specific phone. The E61i, N70, even my old 6630, are all Symbian Series 60 phones and share the same architecture [with some minor differences] so don’t be so quick to discard a search result just because they have a different model Nokia 🙂
Hope that helps. Peace.

Sony mp3 players before 2008 do NOT work with server 2008, same driver certification error. also SStage will not load the devices entry tab. Use javastage if device detected and delete your music library off the device and reload songs to be able to use songs, if you have the “test driver” mode on. This has been confirmed to work but very unstable and cannot convert mp3 tracks to OMG without using SStage 3.1 do not use 4.x series media devices tab is unacessessible.
I love Sony PMP’s, all of them, but the SonicStage software is complete and utter garbage In my experience so i’m not surprised 🙁 it’s a shame, because it’s the only propper/legal/easy way to use ATRAC3 format too :'( but oh well WMA will do for me 😀
Good to hear that the ReadyBoost pack I uploaded fixed the Code 10 🙂 We should stick to that other thread now I think as they are both obviously related and this is now a solved problem 🙂
Yes its orgasmic to my eyes that would be wonderful of you to do 😀 Surely it has a signature or something though? Ah well I hope it’s a good quality and hi-res picture, at least 1280×1024? 😀
But yeah just up it to rapidshare.com for fast and easy 🙂 Thanks heaps!
Not a very popular thread hey! Lol. And yes, i’m using WINDOWBLINDS 6 with my favorite theme from Windowblinds 5 “SexyXP” [it’s not even a Vista theme but I love it].
