I am running x64 and did not get an error when i installed Nero 8. I wounder why that happened, did it give you a reason?

in reply to: SoundMax Driver #45801

I have no idea about sound drivers, since mine were already included in the build. Well, at least the MS drivers that are used work great. I am very surprised that the P5 does not work with MS drivers. It is alot like the D975XBX2 in that it is used for box servers. Well they are around here anyway.

I would double check to make sure Audio is set to auto.

I have a HP Photoshmart C3180 and Vista drivers work great. But, I do not install from the disc. The disc installs to much clutter for my tastes. I just go to the website and download the driver only.

That would be great. This way we can all learn from what happened. Just post the install log in the forums, as code, and we can see what happened.

I am glad to see a Star Dock game working (Sins of a Solar Empire). I have been wanting to play that, but have just not had the time to!

That is really starnge. I installed CS3 Master Collection and had no errors at all.

What bit do you have x86 or x64?

I would like to welcome you to the community. It will be great to have your experience on board.

I spent only 34 days in Darwin, but really loved Australia. If it were not for the gun grabbers I would move there. No worries, right!

We are getting ready to up date the style for the forum and add a portal. I will let admin and mods know and see what they think.

That is the same issue I have, that is why I considered it to not work for x64. In x86 they have the options available, but not in x64.

in reply to: TV Application #45189

I am almost betting the world that this is due to the drivers or fimware (built into the card) causing these issues. I did have a ATI 650 something or other card and it had issues in Vista (even though they stated it was Vista certified). It was all due to the way the OS seen the card. After talking with ATI I found out it was the micro code or firmware that was causing my issue. They then told me it was Vista certified, but between the OS and my mainboard it was being reported wrong to the system.

I took it back and made the chain store give me my money back. Then i just put a TV and DVR in my computer room. It cost me more, but my PC is not being used (proccesses) for the tv and recording.

    Hello, fellow Illini!

We may be from the same state, but we are around 8 hours apart. I live way down around Marion, IL north of Paducah, KY.

Thank you for joining and we look forward to hearing what you have to say!

Even if they did not release a x64 version, wouldn’t it work and just be installed in the 32 bit directory?

After installing 3.1 everything works except for my darn volume control on my keyboard. Status bar shows on screen, but real audio volume is not responding. Any help…

I am not sure what may be causing that. It may be that some of the features were not in 3.1 or they just do not work with your board. I us a Logitech Trackball and a MS Comfort Keyboard. All MS drivers for Vista x86/x64 have worked great for me to this point (knock on woody).

in reply to: List of working games (x64) #45695

I will have to test Crysis, because the benchmark for any PC and OS is just awful. I ran a benchmark on WinXP and decided the game would look horrible. I tried it then in Vista and got almost identical stats. That tells me that this game is built on systems that are not even out yet. Heck, the new ATI 3875 X2 did not even score that well in Crysis and rumor has it that niether does the new nVidea 9000 series cards. The bothers me that a game company would put out a game that is to far ahead of the PC field to get good gfx from.

    Alright, enough of my complaining!

in reply to: Problem with drivers? This might help…. #45645

That BOOTMGR failure may have been do to a driver error (maybe). I think you can actually fix that problem, if you see it again. Use the Vista or WinServ08 disc to get a well working MS-DOS window (the reason I said well working is due to some DOS workarounds, ie. USB boot, will not give you the help files for all commands). Then just type help. This will show you the cmd structure of BCDEDIT (after typing bcdedit help). Then I think you can fix the bootmgr and do alot more tweaks to the boot.
