I think this is due to the way Win2k8 loads the login screen compared to Vista. They are close, but i have already seen somethings that have got me asking questions. I will look into the files used for both Vista and Win2k8 to see why this may be.
This is part of the game explorer used in Vista to map your games. The reason, I think, for the errors in some games is due to it looking for it inorder to keep track of what you have installed. From what I have read most newer games need it and the older games do not (except MMO games since they are rebuilt to use it).

BTW, I hope you wanted the file from the Windows/System32/ directory. If not you will need to tell me which directory the one you want is in.
I just figured why DX features were not loading. I was running Win2k8 on VMware 6 and it was causing them to be shut down. It had something to do with the way VMware displays the virtual workstation. I now it loaded on a new drive and the features are working. I am getting ready to start installing programs and games.
I have ran into a problem I am trying to work out with Nero 7.9.6. It installed with a couple errors (I think due to DX9). Then when I went to use the DVD portion it looked for DirectDraw. Told me I needed to start DirectDraw before I could use it. When I went into DXDIAG I found it and other features were missing. I am trying to figure it out and will post when I get it working.
If someone knows how to start the features of DX please let me know. I have yet to find a way.
When i click on the PDF to download it all I see is “MediaFire”. It does not change from this and start the download.
