Its very far from usable OS.. I mean the look is still the same as vista, but the core is different so i don’t think it can be used for normal work.
After you experience the problem, check your event viewer for some error that may occured in the system at that time – for example failed service or something else.
10th June 2008 at 22:02 in reply to: How to get CTRL+ALT+DEL to open directly the task manager? #46496Yeah for some reason everyone is willing to give up on the good old c-a-d 😀
Unfortunately the shortcut way is a little buggy and sometimes the key combination doesn’t work so i used hotkeycontrol to do it.Unfortunately its not free, but if you don’t want to pay you can try HotKeyBind – looks like its good free alternative.Since its winamp plugin, you need winamp to get it running.Ofcourse you can try to port it for other apps too, because its open source.
After the plugin scan for channels it will display them in winamp and you can save them as simple playlist and load them at any time.It also supports recording with hardware encoding, if the tv tuner support it, it works with dvb cards etc etc.
I cant test it right now, but if you really need a way to watch tv, then you can give it a try.
Also dont forget to configure the plugin properly – it will need proper filters to render the audio and video – in my case i installed Power DVD 7 and its filters was available in the options.Have you tested the winamp tv plugin ? I cant tested right now, but it worked great on vista with Theatrix 550!
Im using this beta driver (SBXF_PCDVRBETA_LB_2_14_0001) and it works flawlessly with my X-Fi Music.
/off
In vista/server2008 the Audio Console sets “Stereo Xpand” instead of “Stereo Surround” which i dont think is good idea so i would suggest to change it from the creative audio console.
/offIf you replace the tokens.dat you cannot use the Server manager, windows update (downloads updates for vista which can be potentially dangerous), you cannot add roles and features to your server too.
After the 240 days period ends there is a way to stop the timer completely and i think thats the best way to go.Of course, i already posted few posts 🙂
BTW i forgot to mention that i’m from Bulgaria so excuse my english 🙂9th June 2008 at 15:57 in reply to: How to get CTRL+ALT+DEL to open directly the task manager? #46494I was afraid you are going to say that 😀 I know that key combination, but i dont like to move my hand across the entire keyboard just to open the task manager 😛
Im still looking for solution, but until then i found sort of workaround.
If anyone is interested, here is how to do it:
1. Right click on the desktop, select new > shortcut
2. type taskmgr in the bar, choose some name and press finish.
3. move the shortcut somewhere (my documents for example)
4. Go to the properties window of the shortcut
5. Assign your own shortcut key to open task manager by pressing the key combination you want in the “Shortcut key:” bar:
In my case i use CTRL+ALT+NUM0 because its very close to CTRL+ALT+DEL 🙂I think i can help! (atleast for the x86 users)
The setpoint doesnt work on Server 2003 too so i searched really alot to find solution.
In some forum (i dont remember which one anymore but i think it was on the logitech forum) there was a guy who modded the drivers to work with Server 2003, but looks like they work with 2008 too (i use them atm with MX620 and all options are available)
Here is how to do it:
1.Download the latest SetPoint (right now its 4.60)
2.Download the fixed drivers from here or here
3.Install SetPoint and close it from the system tray
4.Install the fixed drivers
5.Start SetPoint again
6.Have fun 🙂
#NOTE: I cant test this on x64 since i dont have such os so test on your own risk!
#If you want, you may try x64 drivers instead of the x86 ones i posted above.Hi DMikeM and welcome 🙂
