Well, VIA aren’t the best when it comes to chipsets so maybe their drivers have something to do with it.. I still think its some kind of driver issue, or in the worst case scenario the motherboard itself..
Probably the problem is caused by the drivers. The driver refuse to start, because some other device or driver uses this virtual address.Check in device manager for any drivers that have Exclamation mark on them.
Also its good idea to clean any files left from the previous driver using driver cleaner .NET for example.
Thanks for the x64 testing, blinder! im working on some improvements, but version 1.0 is close 🙂
I found that most of the audio problems are caused by the CMSS filter that is used by Creative’s Audio Console to upmix 2.0 > 5.1 audio content. If you dont have 2.1+ sound system you can safely disable this option.
Ofcourse, you can share it as much as you want 🙂
I was wondering… why don’t we just search the web for some free clones of these games and make a package for server 2008? For example this minesweeper clone.
Do you have audio device installed in the device manager?
Do you have the latest vista driver installed?
What is the model of your creative sound card?Well it will probably work at higher rate, if you replace the system files with the vista patched ones (there are 500 and 1000hz versions), but there are disadvantages of using the mouse without its software so i think its not worth it.
Probably thats the reason why futuremark made the test not to run on server 😛
The problem was caused by the file attributes – the file is read-only by default, but i haven’t noticed that at first.
The issue is now fixed – the patch automatically removes the read-only attribute. You can redownload the file or you can manually remove the read-only flag in the file properties and use the old one 🙂The advantage is smoother movement, but even after patching the dll files, SetPoint still forces 125hz
Ok i made a patch for server 2008 – just open the file and click the patch button – it will automatically patch PCMark.exe
I haven’t tested it with x64 so test on own risk (make backup of PCMark.exe before patching).Well personally i dont care for pc mark because this test is not used very often, but i looked into registry and stuff and it looks like the program uses ver.dll to get the information.I have some ideas on how to cheat the file to think you have vista and i will get back when i have more information on this.
Btw trimmed down vista still has 30% slower memory management so thats not the way to go 🙂Well ill look into it when the current converter is stable enough – maybe week or so from now.
