Here’s an awesome virtual host utility. Its incredibly easy to use and works on both 32/64 bit processors.
Apparently windows server 2k8 has similar functionality. This software by Sun is unbelievably easy to use. And its free.
http://www.virtualbox.org/I have the same issue on my laptop. It randomly started happening. I’ll lock it or put it to sleep. From there it will randomly go to a black screen and the only way to fix it is to do a hard reboot on it.
Nope it still doesn’t work. It locks one processor up at 50% usage on the loading bridge image.
This should help. There seems to be an issue getting it to display a button in the start menu. I use hotkey’s to tell my laptop to sleep. I believe it’s this thread that also goes over how to create a “sleep” desktop icon which you could put in quick launch or your start menu.
If I’m ever in a hurry I normally just do a hard shutdown. I have my laptop setup to keep running as usual when I shut the lid. So if I’m not in a hury and I’m just leaving class I’ll tell it to shut down, close the lid, and the fan is normally stopped by the time I’m ready to slide it into my backpack.
That was way easier then I expected! I overlooked the function of the sleep button on battery. It was set to do nothing if I pressed it!
I can’t believe I overlooked that. Thanks for the help
Anyone have any idea? It really sucks having to shutdown my laptop whenever I don’t have it plugged in!
You can’t activate the product without a legal registration key. I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you and I were looking for an illegal way of validating. Looks like microsoft locked down pretty good on registrations.
I’m running 2k8 server provided free of charge by DreamSpark. It’s a program offered by Microsoft giving free software to students around the world. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with it?
