Seems to work fine, thanks!
I downloaded and installed the latest Games Explorer that AsciiWolf posted, but Tinker still wouldn’t install through GFWL. According to the logs it’d bum out with a 0x8007000d error. So I just grabbed the extracted MSI from C:ProgramDataMicrosoftXLiveInstallerPath (gotta do it before the install exits with the error, at which point the extracted files are deleted) and used that to install the game. Works fine now.
Er… download link?
Also, is it OK to just install it over a previous version?Very cool. Have you confirmed that it’s actually working? Ie. scans the computer, detects malware and successfully updates? And most importantly, that no night elves empty your fridge at night? Wouldn’t want that to happen during the holidays 😛
Hi, and welcome.
I’m not really sure how a computer engineer can not know what fragmentation is, but hopefully this link helps:

Nope, all blank here as well.
But not for your monitor. Or is it?
Ah yes, if you’re content with playing it at 640×480, with 8-bit colours, then the default installation is fine. I prefer my laptop’s native resolution (1280×800) and 16-bit colours, and I now have both working that way, without compatibility mode or resolution restrictions.
Nope. I tried a few things mentioned in the last post, but none of them worked, so I kind of gave up. I don’t really switch between power plans anyway, so it isn’t a huge issue for me, I just wanted to know if this was normal for R2.
See if anything in this topic helps you:

Compatible?: Yes
Issues: Might exhibit graphics glitches, as a game of such vintage does with any modern OS.
Fixes: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/Fallout_Series/fallout_1_faq/perm=26/#p_b_26Game: Fallout 2
Website: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/fallout_2
Compatible?: Yes
Issues: Same as above.
Fixes: Install killap’s unofficial patch and high-res mod. This applies to just the GoG.com versions of Fallout and Fallout 2, which is basically the original games with all official patches applied and packaged in a custom installer that’s compatible with modern versions of Windows. The original versions of the games themselves might have more issues.
Guys, come on. I thought we were done with that. You want to keep discussing it, take it to PMs or email or something.
Anything in the Event log about it?
If not, I’d suggest starting to uninstall certain devices (video card or anything sharing IRQ with it, sound card, wireless, etc.) and seeing if that removes the problem.
