You said that 3d mark require vista and will run only on x64, but i use x86.

I said both require Vista. I did not say they will run only on x64, just that I run x64.

I downloaded 3d mark vantage few days ago and i ran the benchmarks without any problem at all!
I was able to change options, resolutions, compare my scores online etc.

PCMark not 3DMark. 😉 3DMark runs fine for the most part.

I have a Logitech G9 and have been trying to get the Setpoint drivers (v3.3 to 5.0) to work on Server 2008 Ent. (x64). Absolutely nothing will work – I’ve tried it all (old drivers, custom drivers, drivers installed to Vista and copied over to Server, etc.). I’m hoping someone here figures sometime out but in the meantime I plan to keep experimenting. 😀 All I want is to be able to map my keys!!! 😐

As atariguy mentioned I just added “.exe” to “Inclusion list for low risk file types” and it worked like charm.

    Thanks all!

Nice work Scimitar! This trick allowed me to install Avast Home in Server 2008 Enterprise (64 bit). Afterwords I logged into the master Admin account and reset the permissions. So far so good!

    Thanks for the help Arris!

in reply to: WMP w/o Desktop Experience? #46387

    Hi Arris,

I’m running the 64 bit version of Server 2008 Enterprise w/o Desktop Experience installed.

I extracted wmfdist11-*.exe and wmp11*.exe as you suggested. I first extracted wmfdist11-*.exe and then wmp11*.exe. wmp11*.exe asked whether I wanted to overwrite existing files from wmfdist11-*.exe. I said yes. I then ran the command line parameters you supplied – it ran through registering all the DLLs. I then ran wmplayer.exe.

WMP loaded, detected media and allowed me to configure options but I could not play audio or video files. If I tried to play a loaded video or audio file WMP would eventually crash.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! For now I’ve installed Desktop Experience to get it working. Thanks.
