Sorry. After a bit of experimenting it didn’t work for me, so I installed Standard.

    Good luck anyway!

Thanks for the reply and good to know that the keys actually changed. Nobody seemed to know anywhere I went.

But luckily ExpertUser released the OEM project a few days ago which lets you choose during install which edition you want. So I reinstalled, chose Standard, typed in the Dreamspark key, and voila!

Best Windows I ever had, and that’s on a Mac via Boot Camp!

No worries. And thanks for the bluetooth link. It installed fine, but I haven’t had a chance to test it yet. So can’t say too much about it.

    Thanks again!

    It’s awesome!

Works perfectly. Chose to install the Standard Edition and my Dreamspark key worked. I don’t know why, but this version works much better on my MacBook Pro than the Director’s Cut. There I couldn’t get the Mac specific (not quite) F-buttons to work. I mean the display brightness adjustment, keyboard illumination, etc. Especially the lack of a disk eject button was quite frustrating. And yeah, the Boot Camp control panel didn’t work properly so I couldn’t adjust anything.
With this version everything worked straight away, but had some tiny flaws at first (like sometimes I couldn’t switch off the keyboard illumination entirely). Then I installed the brand new Boot Camp update version 3.2 from 9 days ago (which wasn’t yet available when I installed the DC) and now everything is perfect.

Like honestly, so far this is the smoothest Windows experience I’ve ever had (reminds me a little of 98SE, hehe…). And that’s on a Mac! 😆

I only have one question: the Director’s Cut created a Tools folder with some stuff. I don’t really remember what was in it, the only thing I used was the Bluetooth stack, which was quite handy. This version doesn’t have that folder. Is that on purpose? And is that stack available from the Microsoft website? Or did you mod it too in some way?

    Many thanks!

    Awesome! Thanks!
Will download and test as soon as my crappy Aussie Internet connection allows.

    Thanks for the info, ExpertUser!

So I guess I’m just gonna sit here and wait a little till you find the time to upload the AIO (windows is only secondary to me, so I’m in no immediate rush with it), since that one should work for me, right?

    Keep up the good work!

    Thanks ExpertUser.

Unfortunately, nothing seems to work. I got a second product key from Dreamspark and it doesn’t work either. Then I spent over 40 minutes on the phone with Microsoft only to find out that they can’t offer any service for a free product, but I’m welcome to get a consultation for the price of $390. Nearly laughed out loud. Don’t think she likes me anymore…

Thanks for the other suggestions, but I was hoping to have a legal system running. And those tools don’t sound exactly Microsoft approved. 😉

Do you know if there are any pre-modded Standard editions around? Do you feel like making one? 🙂

I hope I’m not spamming this board with the same question (I found some old threads about the topic), but I just installed the Director’s Cut and it does not accept my Dreamspark product key.

Is there any way I can downgrade from Enterprise to Standard Edition?

If not, are there any pre-modded Standard Editions around? I’m not sure I want to mod everything myself.

    Cheers!

    Hi guys,

I just installed the Director’s Cut on my MacBook Pro 13″ and everything seems to work like a charm. The only problem is that I have a product key for the Standard Edition of R2 (from Dreamspark). And R2 Enterprise does not accept it.

Do you know if I can force it to accept it (downgrade to Standard, change tokens.dat, or something)?

If not, are there any pre-modded Standard Editions around? I don’t think I want to mod it all myself.

    Cheers from Oz!

Is this also possible with R2? If so, where do I find the tokens.dat?

    Cheers!

Has anyone tried this recently? I just did, and Windows tells me my Dreamspark key won’t work with the Enterprise Edition (from the Director’s Cut).

Are there any pre-modded Standard Editions out there? I’m not sure I want to mod it all by myself…

Hmm… this is interesting. Thanks michal.

I read around a bit about pagefiles and Win7 and pagefiles generally, and I must say I simply didn’t know I could disable the pagefile entirely and PROBABLY get away with it. Definitely worth a try. That would make my partition quite a bit smaller, which leaves me more space on the Mac-partition. And that’s the one I do actual work on.

    Hey halladayrules,

Thanks a lot for the info. Helps a lot indeed!
Just a quick follow up: how big are your page file and hibernation-reserve-file (forgot what it’s called)? And are they included in your 26GB of Windows/user data files?

So somewhere between 32 and 60. Good to know. I might go for 40-50 roughly then.

    Cheers!
