do you have the game explorer from win 7 ?
No. I can’t get this damn thing working…
I tried everything but the “Games” menu doesn’t appear in Start menu and typing “Games” in the explorer window run web search of “Games” instead of Games Explorer… 🙁I got all features (Sidebar, Game Controllers control panel, GameUX, Aero mouse pointers – from Win 7) which I want working, except Windows Games Explorer which i really like. 🙁
So, this is the only reason, why I’m still on r1…6th June 2009 at 14:13 in reply to: My List of working games, which I tried on my server 2k8… #48278And again, update (added a few new games to the list).
Works great in x64 too.
Thanks!@Fullmetal99012 wrote:
Im hoping that once they release Server 2008 R2, It will be up on dreamspark.
I hope too… 😉
I got the Windows 7 RC sidebar completely working in Windows Server 2008 r2 RC!

Just extract the archive and run install.cmd as user with Administrator rights.
Enjoy! 😉I probably got “Game Controllers” Control Panel from Windows 7 working too. 😉
joy_win7.zip[/attachment:37enekud]I also got Windows 7 Aero (Improved Windows Vista Aero mouse pointers) mouse pointers working…
aero_cursors.zip[/attachment:1tk0k19l]Well, I tried to install gameux.dll from Windows 7 RC and it works well.
So, I made an installer (which is included as attachment) for it… 😉
gameux.7z[/attachment:1dj8uy4w]Woot! I finally got it working!
After copying “WMASF.DLL” and “WMVCORE.DLL” to System32 and SysWOW64 and setting ffdshow “WMA 7” and “WMA 8/9” audio decoder to “libavcodec”, wmv movies are playing well in MPC:HC.
Needed dlls are included as attachment…
Hope it help someone like me, who like to have minimalistic OS… 😉

If you’re so worried about performance issues from this “bloat” myth (i’m assuming you have an older computer)
No, but I really don’t want apps, I’ll never use, in my system… 😉
That’s the thing I hate on (desktop) Windows and that’s why I choosed Windows 2008 instead of Vista.8th April 2009 at 17:17 in reply to: My List of working games, which I tried on my server 2k8… #48277bump (added few games to the list).

Is there a reason WHY you can’t have Desktop Experience installed…?
As I said in other topic: “I really don’t want bloatware like Windows Defender, Live apps, WMP, etc…”

Can I ask what version you have? Mine is “ffdshow tryouts revision 2133”, the same one from CCCP, and it worked for me in the past. Apart from that, I don’t know how to help. Maybe you need a splitter/de-plexer.
Oh i re-read your post…. you already have videos working!!!!! So what’s the problem????? FFDShow Audio Decoder has 100% working support for WMA!!! Enable them and you should be fine! Tip – in the Audio Decoder “Codecs” window, right click and select “Set all stable codecs to libavcodec” or whatever it is (just going off memory there).
I have latest ffdshow tryouts (ffdshow_rev2832_20090328_clsid).
Yep, I got one (cvid) codec working, but it’s an AVI codec used in some apps/games, not WMV….
ps. Thanks for the tip, but nothing has changed after setting it… :-/@JonusC wrote:
Did you actually enable the DirectShow decoder for the four WMV codecs in “FFDShow Video Decoder Configuration”…?
Yep, but nothing has changed. I’m still getting “cannot render file” message instead of movie in MPC-HC…
btw. In the “FFDShow Video Decoder Configuration”, I can only select “wmv9” decoder for WMVP and MSS1/2. There’s no “libavcodec” in the roll menu… -
