Hello,
How to add Sleep / Hibernate options to Windows Server 2012 R2 start menu?
This question has already been answered for windows server 2008 r2 (viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1389), but solution with Application Verifier doesn’t work for Server 2012 R2.I can hibernate and sleep from commad line or via the power button, but I can’t make these options to appear in usual place in start menu.
Please help! - 19th September 2015 at 21:31 #61192Anonymous

Weird, because it works for me….
I have used the same converting-instructions for WS2008-R2 / WS2012 / WS2012-R2,
and i have not had any problems with hibernate. - 20th September 2015 at 07:05 #61193Anonymous

– will hibernate my PC, but I want Sleep / Hibernate options to be available in Start Menu as they are in Windows 8.

1. Download the application verifier tool here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d … laylang=en
2. Open Application Verifier (x64) application. You want to open the 64-bit version of the application since Explorer.exe is a 64-bit process.
3. At top go to File > Add Application…
4. Navigate to X:WindowsExplorer.exe; where X is the drive letter of your operating system (usually C:)
5. On the right side underneath “Tests” uncheck Basics.
6. Expand the + sign next to Compatibility, and place a checkmark next to HighVersionLie
7. Right-click on HighVersionLie and choose Properties.
8. Under Product Type place a value of “1” in the input box. Click OK.
9. Now click Save. Close out of Application Verifier application.
10. Open up command prompt (start > run > cmd.exe)
11. In command prompt type taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
12. Now type start explorer

That explains it.
Hibernate is not mentioned there…To activate hibernate you also have to run the command: Powercfg -h on
