With Server 2008 R2 you could use the “OptionalFeatuers.exe” documented by Arris here to add/remove additional components and applets that the Server Manager wouldn’t let you otherwise uninstall or reinstall.
I just reinstalled Sever 2012 and wanted to give this a whirl but couldn’t find a tool to extract the Windows 8 “install.wim” to even look for anything like “OptionalFeatures.exe”. Would anybody know: what we can use now to extract the NT 6.2 “install.wim”, and/or the Windows 8 filename (if it’s changed) for “OptionalFeatures.exe”, and/or have the a 64-bit installation of Windows 8 where they can find this file and its matching en-US *.mui file?
Much obliged if anyone can help out!

Edit got the “Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) for Windows® 8” which apparently will mount and let you extract the Windows 8 “install.wim” — will update when I know more…
