I have my old SBLive (CT4620) PCI from about 10 years ago working in Windows Server 2008 32-bit.
I get audio input and output only, no MIDI, but thats OK for my needs.
First download these old SBLive drivers:http://files2.europe.creative.com/manualdn/Drivers/Others/1972/LiveDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe
Install using ‘XP SP2 Compatability’ mode, but just install ‘Drivers Only’ – the mixer etc didn’t work, but that’s
no big loss really.
After rebooting, start msconfig and go to ‘startup’ to disable:‘ReadReg Application’, ‘Creative Updreg’, ‘Creative Audio Product’ and ‘CTHelper Application’
You could also delete these from the Registry. They are to be found in:
HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftCurrentVersionWindowsRun
Also, in this registry key
HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionMultimediaSystemProfile
Change “SystemResponsiveness” from 100 to somethng like 20 (this is well known and should help reduce stutter)
*NOTE* the default value is given in HEX, so don’t just type in ’20’ and hit enter or you’ll set the value at 32 in
decimal. You want 14 in HEX, which is 20 in decimal.
Now reboot again.
This works for me. I hope it works for some of you. - 14th February 2009 at 10:20 #48290
Hi MattBritish, thanks for this explanation! I’m sure this will help several people to get their SBLive PCI card working. 🙂
