Are you saying that you have problems installing Windows Server 2008 R2, via a ISO image/disk made from the image? If so, what ISO are you using?
Try booting from the DVD and see if that helps. If you always do that, try it from when you are logged on.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they probably drop it in Windows 8 (or whatever they decide to call it).

web has some hardware restrctions.
such as ?
Here are the pages where the different editions are compared:
- Edition Comparison by Technical Specification
- Edition Comparison by Server Role
- Differentiated Feature Comparison by Edition
I expect currently no-one will use more than 32GB of RAM in their pc. Only the maximum amount of virtual machines allowed can be a reason to use the Datacenter edition.
What is “Failover Clustering” anyways, because that is the only difference between Standard + Enterprise on this page: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/r2-differentiated-features.aspx

enterprise sounds cooler! 😛
Yeah, I think I chose that one a little bit because of that reason. 😎 The first time I installed I also thought that the Enterprise edition was the most extended edition, but it turns out that is the Datacenter edition.
Even though Enterprise does indeed sound cooler, I think I’ll probably just use Standard.
So are you still experiencing problems or are they solved?
Thanks, I added Crysis 32-bit to the list.
I am adding these to the main list. Feel free to make new topics about what works/doesn’t work.

Oh, I think I set the wrong permissions while creating the forums. Will take a look at this problem later this evening. I’m now going to watch a movie with friends.
Okay. 🙂
You can create a new thread in the “Staff Only” forum and edit it if you found one. I’ll look at it regular.
I’ll change the title (if I remember) to whatever date I last updated it, so it will look like “Aug.28.09 – List of Spammers,” that way it is easier to know if I updated it, but I may forget so it would be good to check it every few days. 😉
Also, would you like to help me with updating the tables at the Security software and Games Compatibility page as soon as there is a new comment which says some game/application works? We can also do it together, but at least it saves me a lot of work if you help me with that. 🙂
Sure, I’d be happy to help with the tables. 🙂
That was actually the main reason for trying to sticky a topic in the Win2k8 R2 forum – I was going to sticky the exisiting list there or start a new topic and include the games that are already on that list but the forum didn’t give me the option.
I noticed on the Security software + games pages on the manual that some people have commented on more that don’t/need tricks/works so I’ve added those to the respective forums so we know to add those.

windows 2008 r2 is 64 bit only I belive. (still has 32 bit compats.)
Yes, Microsoft dropped the 32-bit OS for Windows Server 2008 R2. I think I read somewhere that Windows 7 is the last 32-bit client OS, but that may not be the case.
Spam posts may be deleted directly. Also keep an eye on people who post a totally irrelevant reply because I had multiple times that they edit their reply after some days and add some spamlinks to it, just to get higher in search rankings I guess. If you see someone (or a bot?) doing that, please inform me so I can IP Ban them which I have already done for quite a lot of these people.
How did you prefer to be contacted if I find one of those users?
The only way I could think of deleting a post without dropping post count is if you went into the Admin CP and changed a user’s post-count everytime, but that would get annoying.
As for users that hide their online status, I don’t really see why they need to do it, especially since zclin had just registered at the time. I could see a reason if a more well-known user or you or I did it to not bring attention on if we weren’t having a good day or if we were hiding our online status to see if spammers spam when they can’t see there is a mod online so their messages don’t get deleted right away. But I don’t get it and 99% of the time I show my online status.
[s:3jpgucdf]Edit: For some reason, the forum isn't letting me change the type of topic anywhere on the forum, Normal/Sticky/Global/Announcement. It was working fine yesterday. I can't change it from the “Quick-mod tools” under a topic [if it was ever there], if I try doing so by editting the topic, the option isn't above “Reason for editing” and it isn't in the Mod CP either. Any ideas? :?[/s:3jpgucdf]
[s:3jpgucdf]Edit 2: It turns out that I can change the topic type in any forum except for ones that fall under the Operating Systems category, so I'm not sure now.[/s:3jpgucdf]
Edit 3: After digging through a few more forums, it turns out it is just the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 forums that I don’t have the option.

Run SecurAble to see if your laptop supports Hardware Virtualization when you are not sure.
It also tells you if your computer supports Hardware D.E.P. and if the processor is 32-bit or 64-bit. Remember that if you are running R2 that your computer must support 64-bit, so that doesn’t matter.
See this blog to see if a processor supports Hardware Virtualization so you know if you need to upgrade.

It’s always good when you answer your own problems, that way you and other people learn from it.
