You’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head.
The differences are just the philosophies, for example server is minimal by default and allows for greater configuration, while 7 has ease of use as it’s priority.
They share the same codebase, and technically there really is not any difference. You can set tone to be almost identical to the other except for missing features, and any difference in performance will be negligible.
It pretty much comes down to features….ifyou like hyper v, group policy and such, and the minimalistic approach then server is choice. If you play a lot of games or do graphic design then 7 is a much better choice.
Oh. Some chaps around here may try and tell you that anything that is 64bit is without a doubt superior and that server os is definitely better performing and superior to 7 in every way. You should ignore them at all costs.
Look at the facts, and decide what works best for you.
To do the agreement thing, you need to redirect all dns queries to the agreement page until after they agree.
My webcam is built into my laptop…but I noticed that while the drivers would not work for it….using MSN or Skype or whichever it actually works fine. perhaps see if it works for you, despite the erros you receive from the software?
I’m not getting involved again at all, but I would just like to point out that pretty much everything in the above post is untrue, and people can easily verify this for themselves.

If you look closely, you’ll see I was actually responding to the new guy, not you.
….. 😳 😳 😳
I’m sorry Indrek, I was just in a defensive mode after reading those posts.

I hope I made my point clear since I hate this kind of foolish behavior
No more foolish than you dragging up something that the rest of us had put behind ourselves already.
Maybe one of the moderators could lock this topic, before someone else feels the need to chime in and flog this dead horse some more.
I didn’t drag up this topic!
I’ve been ignoring the people I had a problem with.
Someone went and made a second account under another username to drudge it up. I found that frustrating and replied.
Rather than this thread being locked for going offtopic, I would actually like to see the issues I raised in the original post get addressed.

RemixedCat you don’t happen to be Liz Kowalsky, Game designer/3D Modeller of Badash Games (http://badashgames.blogspot.com/)?
I have seen some of your work and it’s quite impressing, keep it up!
You seem to have quite a lot of experience in computers and in the technical area, what’s your honest opinion of 64-bit computing and Windows Server 2008 / R2?
[s:101kaq59]This is just sad.
RC's blog where she clearly lists Badash games as her own company.
http://remixedcat.blogspot.com/
People wouldn't randomly recognize you from your posts on this forum to be a designer at a game company. How stupid do you think people are?
Enough with the attention seeking already.[/s:101kaq59]
Arris Edit: I don’t read all of your and rmxcat’s contributions, but this is clearly a bias about her which is absolutely not constructive! Please behave normally or if you can’t, ignore each other. That way we can keep the forum positive and constructive as it was founded for. Thanks! 🙂

Here you have some options in the Local Group Policy Editor (Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc) you might want to change to get it working. After changing, restart your computer or force the new policies using the gpupdate /Force command.

Hope this is causing the trouble so you can fix it now!
I was hoping this would solve my issue, but still no go 🙁
I am using TrueSuite from Authentec as Asus provides no software for 64bit Windows, and it just reads my fingerprint eternally, never registering.
Since I have not really been active on the forums for a while, and have been avoiding the person you are referring to after talking with other members on the forum, I can only assume you *are* that person, or a friend.
There is no jealousy or ulterior motive. It’s just annoying when people have no idea what they are talking about and continue to spread FUD, and no one calls them out on it.
I have an Asus laptop with an Authentec scanner.
Asus provides no drivers for Win7 or 64bit vista, so this didnt help.
I got the official authentec drivers which seems to work fine, but I can never enroll my finger. It says it only needs 3 readings to enroll, but after 70 successful readings it just keeps going…

Dunno how this all started
I was disappointed in your reply Jonus. As one of the few people with established technical cred on this forum, I was hoping you could weigh in and dispell some pretty blatant misconceptions. It seems you, along with everyone else is too polite to do so.
“this started” because some people are saying some outrageous, factually incorrect things, and some people are calling them on it.
It isn’t to do with being stubborn, it’s only about trying to get people to realize that factual evidence is worth slightly more than a misinterpreted anecdote.
Don’t leave it in all the time, as it will overcharge and be useless for when you actually need it..
Be sure to use it all and recharge it once every few weeks to maintain it, but that’s it.
12th December 2009 at 02:02 in reply to: Help needed BSoD when installing Hyper-V / ATI HD4670 #50224So you have a low resolution by default? It seems odd that it is always the same file.
What triggers the crash exactly? Is it reproducible?
What is the name of the exception you get when it bluescreens?
9th December 2009 at 16:52 in reply to: Help needed BSoD when installing Hyper-V / ATI HD4670 #50222My theory is that the old driver is still on there somehow.
Make sure you remove it completely from device manager, and selecting to delete driver files.
8th December 2009 at 16:35 in reply to: Help needed BSoD when installing Hyper-V / ATI HD4670 #50220Hmm
I’m using driver 8.650.0.0, and Hyper V and games work fine.
I would suggest trying this driver?
