Well when I tried to register the dills, alot of them didn’t work for the tablet input panel…. The important one TipBand.dll failed with error code 0X80004005. When I looked up the error most people said it was due to not running an elevated command prompt, but I ran it as an administrator… Maybe it won’t register because some of the other dlls won’t register? Or maybe it needs a registry key…. I’m not savvy enough to figure this out, so I hope someone else would help.

We just got a usb tablet device and the Tablet PC Input Panel would be awesome to have. This would probably be easy for someone else to do, so I’m asking for help…

Maybe someone could simply get the XP version to install on windows 7 (take off the version checker). The Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Recognizer Pack is downloaded at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=080184dd-5e92-4464-b907-10762e9f918b&DisplayLang=en. There are even some table pc power tools, but I can’t get any of them to install on my non tablet pc (but I want to use my usb tablet to do the same stuff). They are downloaded (again for XP) here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/tabletpc.mspx

    thanks for the help..

in reply to: Installing NT windows clients #50831

Okay I kind of answered my own question. I tried installing the old dotnetfx.exe framework 1.1 and during the install it said that it wasn’t compatable with IIS, but I installed it anyway and things seem to be working okay and our web site is still online.

After installing Framework 1.1 (I guess Framework 4 dosen’t cover framework 1.1) the programs started working. I’ll give updates if there are any other problems, but the update client seems to work now.

I tried installing the 1.1 Framework first before I added the 3.5 Framework in the add features program, and it didn’t work so I assumed that it wouldn’t work on windows 2008 r2, but then I latter added the 3.5 framework feature and it allowed me to install the .NET 1.1 framework.

    Thanks, 😀

I have installed the “.NET Framework 3.5.1 Features” using “Add Features” and then I installed the newer .net framework 4 and it all worked fine, but everytime I try to install Afraid Updater I get the popup message saying:

This setup requires the .NET Framework version 1.1.4322. Please install the .NET Framework and run this setup again. The .NET Framework can be obtained from the web. Would you like to do this now? (yes) (No)

and when I click http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/default.aspx it takes me to the page to get .NET Framework 4. Is the new 3.5.1 and 4 Frameworks not compatable with the 1.1.4322 Framework. These programs worked great on my windows XP system. I haven’t tried to install other .NET based programs (maybe I’ll try this).

I also get the same message with installing WebDNSConfig client and others available at http://freedns.afraid.org/scripts/freedns.clients.php

I would like to use freedns.afraid.org instead of DynDNS.com since I have more freedom choosing a subdomain name that is easy to remember and is somewhat like a real domain name, but I guess I could switch to DynDNS.com if I can’t get an IP update client to work.

So I did the compatibility thing and it works if you set the compatibility for all users to vista and allow administer privileges, the utillity starts to install and then it comes up with an error that write permission is not granted on this particular folder called:
    C:Windowswinsxsx86_microsoft.vc80.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_none_10b2f55f9bffb8f8

I tried to remove the read only property of this folder and it wouldn’t allow me. It said that I couldn’t so I looked and it says that I have to be a TrustedInstaller to be able to change permissions for the folder. Does anyone know how to become a TrustedInstaller?

I googled it and in my short time searching it seems that programs and programmers are considered TrustedInstaller, but can’t I be one too..

This system was over clocked before…it can handle it but just maybe not under the windows 2008 r2 OS…

I tried AsciiWolf’s install.cmd and I was logged on as an administrator, so I didn’t right click and say run as administrator and the installation failed (I’m not sure why it looked like everything went well). I tried it again with the as administrator option and it failed because during the Registering step with a message saying “Cannot create a file when that file already exists”.

I tried uninstalling using Zsoft uninstaller (which I ran before and after the install) and it still has the same error…
