  • in reply to: Can’t get Aero interface or flip application thing #46110
    boe

I spoke too soon. I have the aero border interface but I don’t have the roledex flip between application interface – can you tell me what I still forgot? I can click on it down below in the task bar and it does the flippy thing but when I press alt tab it gives me a few boxes to select from – I could swear at some point alt tab would bring up the flippy thing. Maybe I was using the MS key by accident and tab and that’s why it worked but I could swear I could use alt tab to bring up the 3d flipping app.

    Thanks

You are correct but unfortunately that doesn’t resolve the issue.

I did follow the tutorial – rebooted and it still crashes while it runs the light beam over the H as the game just begins to load – about 10 seconds after clicking on the shortcut –

I even did a format and install of Vista again – haven’t installed any other apps yet except live mail. installed latest nvidia and creative drivers.

    UPDATE/EDIT –

Whoops – I just thought for the heck of it I’d try manually selecting DEP for HALO2.exe – says I can’t turn it off for HALO2 – sounds like I need a registry hack.

    in reply to: Bioshock 1 or 1.1 – can’t change resolution #46071

Turns out I can change the resolution if I edit the INI – as long as I don’t go back into video options – I kept opening that before playing the game and it would say 1024 x 768. I can’t change from within the game or it will crash. If I exit even if I don’t apply changes it would change my ini back to 1024×768. So as long as I edit the ini – and DON’T go into video options from within the game I can have any resolution I want.

I have many many many games including a few DX10 games – so far this is the only one that required compatability mode for WinXP or that had any other issues with Windows 2008. Windows 2008 is SWEET compared to Vista – same interface, same basic code but for some reason Vista runs slow on ever system I’ve tested it on but Windows 2008 even with the sidebar turned on and the aero interface runs about the same speed as XP!!

Thanks – if someone figures out how to port it over from Vista that would be great – I realize it is too late for me now but it is a good feature to have.
