I know that the forum is about converting a Windows Server to a Workstation, but these days a lot of people have also Microservers at home, so, I wonder If somebody has any kind of experience about adapting Windows Server 2012 R2 for a Home server use.
If you install the Essentials role you get something very like the home server, like dashboard etc. There is even a hack to avoid joining the domain.
It would be a good idea to apply the Converter first and then activate the Essentials role?
That’s what I did. And by the way, here is the domain hack: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/aa40963c-7235-40f7-85f5-8f8d030a7c13/how-to-skip-domain-joining-during-client-deployment-in-a-windows-server-2012-essentials-network?forum=winserveressentials
Thank you!
Have you activated other Features than the Essentials Role?
