Hi
I see on my home computer which has Windows 8.1, that installs Windows printer drivers for my wireless(connected to router) Canon MG3560 printer.
However when I try the add printer panel on Windows 2008 R2, it keeps giving me ‘Can’t install printer’ error, yet it detects the printer.
So how do I get Windows Server 2008 R2 to install the Windows printer drivers for my printer. I rather not use Canon drivers if I don’t have to.
Thanks,

Have you tried “compatibility-mode” ?
Have you looked under Guides ?
There is some useful information in this post: How to install programs with “server-allergy”
There is also (of course) the possibility that W8.1-drivers doesn´t work on WS2008-R2.
Remember that WS2008-R2 is the serverversion of W7… - 17th January 2015 at 10:01 #61142

But Windows 8.1 is using a generic printer driver provided by Microsoft. For some reason Windows sever 2008 doesn’t have that same generic driver?

I´m no expert on drivers, but a driver for one O/S doesn´t always work on another O/S.
You should use a driver for WS2008-R2 / W7.And the latest drivers are not always the best.
Fx. when I installed WS2012-Technical Preview I had to use an older graphics-driver for W7 in order to get the correct resolution, as the latest driver only provided the default,
if i remember correctly it was 1024×768, and I wanted 1366×768.And sometimes it also matters how you install the driver.
Device Manager → Update Driver might not work.
I have had problems…
In my (limited) experience what usually works is starting the installer directly from a filemanager (explorer) or similar.
And, you might need to use the tricks from the guide, posted above… 😉 - 17th January 2015 at 14:24 #61145
