I have a license for Server 2008 Enterprise. I wonder if it will also be valid for the R2 release. Does anybody know about R2 licensing?
I have been asking the same for some weeks now. And that website didn’t answer my question clearly.
No, it won’t work; I tested the key I use in this Windows Server 2008 x64 Enterprise in Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise and it says “The product key you have entered does not appear to be a valid Windows Server 2008 R2 product key.” “Please check your product key, and type it again.”.
This also makes sense, because “Windows Vista <-> Windows 7″ has the same relation as “Windows Server 2008 <-> Windows Server 2008 R2″, and Windows 7 won’t accept Windows Vista keys either.
