I just re-installed 08 r2 on a new computer because my last one died.
i set it up all good. but i went to install VmWare workstation and it wouldn’t install. (Failed to create the requested registry key error: 1021)
I did everything other forums suggested to fix this. so i tried to import the registry from the computer i installed vmware on while i waited for the new hardware. got the error
cannot import… error accessing the registry.
I was just wondering if there was anything i missed that could cause this problem?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Take a look at this related topic concerning your problem:

Also make sure you have virtualization enabled in your BIOS and you have Administrative privileges before attempting to install the VMWare application.
First I would try removing the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREVMware, Inc
Reboot your system and attempt to install the application again.
