You can save some space(and resources) by disabling thedetails pane.
Here is how the explorer window looks by default:
To change it, follow these settings:
1. Start Run (press windows+r) and type gpedit.msc
2. Navigate to User configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer > Explorer Frame Pane
3. Set “Turn off Details Pane” to “Enabled” by double clicking on the item and then selecting the option from the menu.
Now the explorer window should look like this:
If you want to get the status bar that is present on the previous versions of windows, press alt and then select View > Status Bar
This is useful if you use widescreen since they usually lack of horizontal space.
