Hello there…
I’ve installed Windows 2008 Server without any problems, very nice guide.
I used the Initial Configurations Tasks window, also Server manager window worked fine. Then I stopped using it, since all was working OK and I didn’t really need it.
No idea what I have done in the meantime, but none of the mentioned works any more. The quick launch Server Manager icon now points to %SystemRoot%system32CompMgmtLauncher.exe, which just shows the same as XP did when you right clicked My Computer and clicked Manage – Computer Manager console screen.
When I try launching oobe.exe, the window opens, and after a second it says the program stopped working and needs to close.

Maybe there is some information about the crash in %windir%LogsServerManager.log? If I would have such a problem I would take a look at the background activity of CompMgmtLauncher.exe and/or mmc.exe with Sysinternals Process Monitor to see what happens before it suddenly crashes.
Hope you can find it out!

Hello all,
I have just experienced the exact same problem concering the Server Manager. Suddenly it was replaced with the Computer Management Launcher.
And when I try to launch manually c:Windowssystem32ServerManagerLauncher.exe it shuts down immediately after signalling a problem.
Does anybody have any tips or tricks to get ServerManager to work again?
Cheers.

Are you sure you haven’t used any Windows Server 2008 Activation cracks that are circulating around on the internet? The consequence is that the Server Manager is replaced by Computer Management.
