My professor just gave me a copy of Windows Server 2008 Enterprise edition courtesy of Microsoft to mess around with. I stumbled across this site and decided to try it… Best decision ever. I am literally blown away by the difference in performance. Sadly, I only have the x86 version of Server 2008. Is there a big performance difference between that and the x64 version on a quad core with 8GB of memory? Still a little surprised that the 32bit version reads all 8GB of ram. Thanks in advance.

Also, is there a way to disable all the server features in Server 2008?

fmo yes with q-core and 8giga u will see lots of advantages

windows 2008 have server manger not like vista that all is pre-installed

its mean nothing installed and if u wanna add or remove something u could do that easy with it

While x86 can see the 8GB of RAM, it and most applications will not be able to use most of it. As a result, you must install x64 to use all 8GB.
