hi all,
when i start the game and i got a “gathering exception data” error.
is anyone can play this successfully? - 31st August 2010 at 08:18 #51225
Try Asciiwolf’s MS DirectMusic Core Services Installer here.
I also tried this fix from a RoN forum by a user named “Jerker”

I download this DirectX cab: http://www.4shared.com/file/43284382/3213bef2/DirectX.html
Extracted the contents, right clicked DMUSIC.INF chose Install. I then copied all the .DLL files manually to system32 then registered each one of them manually using regsvr32.
In command prompt…
cd windowssystem32
regsvr32 dmusic.dll
regsvr32 dwave.dll
etc…The only thing I was unable to do was install the audio codecs from the setup INF file “mmdriver.inf” which is from a windows xp installation. I would imagine if I could sucessfully install those codecs that might solve the issue with no sound on menu screen/game. I can play the game fine just with no sound. Hope this helps.

I couldn’t get sound to work.
If you remove the dssl.dll file from the installation folder C:Program Files (x86)Rise of Nations, it should run without sound.

I wasn’t referring to the error I was referring to the game itself.
