In Windows Vista, hard disk is turn off after 20 minutes by default. If you want to enable this option in Windows Server 2008, you can go to: Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > Hard disk > Turn off hard disk after > Setting (Minutes): 20 (vista default)
