I ran across this in searching support for Windows 8 recovery options should Metro get botched up as it is now the default recovery interface — and it may work for Server 2012 as well:
In an elevated command prompt enter:
bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy
And if you wan to restore the standard boot setup:
bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy standard
As I have neither Windows 8 or Server 2012 installed at this time I can’t test whether the ‘legacy’ boot only gets you into ‘Safe Mode’ or actually offers you some of the new Windows 8 restore and recover options via the ‘Recovery Console’…
As these are new BCD entires specific to NT 6.2 there may also be options in the NT 6.2 ‘System Configuration’ tool “msconfig.exe”…
Worth a peek anyhow for anyone that has the OS installed…
