I just installed and converted Server 2012 to workstation, upgrading from Windows 7, and I noticed that internet performance has degraded significantly. Connections seem to take a long time to set up or can simply fail (requiring a refresh), and I keep losing connections to servers, which is a problem especially for some of the browser games I’ve tried.
After looking it up, the only solution I could find was turning off ECN capability, which helped for a few but not all cases. Is there some other TCP or adapter setting I can change that may be causing the slow connections?
UPDATE: Looks like I found the source of the issue for now. Apparently Avast’s real-time network shield was interfering with some of the connections. Things are mostly back to normal after disabling it. Will update again if the problem returns.
