I don’t know if this the correct place to post this.
Problem: When I try to open the Control Panel it just sits there for a few seconds and closes.
I have check the web and this forum for a solution, but no luck.
I can open most of the other .cpl files them selfs.
appwiz.cpl does not open
bthprops.cpl opens
cmicnfgp.cpl does not open
desk.cpl opens
etc…
The Personalize window never displays. “Right-Click on Desktop > Personalize”
I don’t know what is causing this problem.
Thanks for any help!

Hello spyingwind,
That’s a weird problem indeed. You can try to find out what’s causing the problem by using Sysinternals Process Monitor. Set as filter something like Process Name – is – explorer.exe – Include and look for abnormal activity while scanning for .cpl files. (ignore all FAST IO DISALLOWED results, that’s normal)
You can also upload your zipped logfile so others can take a look at it.
Hope you can find the cause of this problem!
