bootsector of server 2008 r2, is it different ?

hey gents, just was wondering, if the bootsector of server 2008 r2, is different than the bootsector of server 2008?

i ask because, there is a software i like to use, that would work on server 2008 a couple years ago, but now with r2, i cant get it to work. the software depends on a compatible bootsector which server 2008 had, but apparently r2 doesn’t. i figured if anyone would know, it would be you guys 😉
