Hey Guys 🙂
I have the latest version of Avira Antivir installed, and it works brilliantly most of the time. However, it does seem to randomly disable itself – without any error messages or warning. This doesn’t happen every day, instead it seems to happen about once/twice a week.
The only way I can start it again is to go into services.msc and restart it. Has anyone else had anything like this? Any clues as to what is causing it?

Hey,
You can take a look at the System and Application Logs in the Event Viewer (Start -> Run -> eventvwr.msc) to find what’s the cause of the Avira service. It might give you some more information at why it sometimes suddenly stops(/crashes?).
Greetings, Arris

Thanks Arris 🙂
I had already thought of checking that – still there was no error message displayed.
However, after some rooting around the Avira forums, i found that it is a fairly common problem with Vista SP1 Os’s. So problem solved now, I think 🙂 Thanks for the suggestion though 🙂

Good to hear that it’s not a Windows Server 2008 specific problem and that they have a fix for it! I hope the problem is solved now! 😉
