Yeah I have the same problem, in the end I uninstalled the CCC and just installed the driver.
BTW, there is a hotfix version of the driver for the 48** series, which helps with the heat issues – im not sure if the 8.7 version includes it or even if its integral to the CCC, hopefully someone can shed some light on the subject.
BTW, as anyone had win2K8 running with a Crossfire setup yet?
